Tenerife has as its main attraction the
volcanic peak, Teide. The fastest rising
mountain in Spain, it is often snow
capped in winter whilst the beaches bask
in glorious sunshine with temperatures
warmer than a typical British summer's
day. Las Americas and Los Cristianos
are by far the most popular resorts, the
former being renowned for its lively and
energetic ambience and nightlife.
Puerto de la Cruz is the second
largest tourist city with Santa Cruz
being the largest on the island. Puerto
de la Cruz can accommodate around 30,000
tourists. Here in this northerly city
you will find that holiday accommodation
tends to leans more towards hotels than
holiday homes and apartments for rent
The west and south west of the islands
sees such town as Calloa Salvaje,
Playa
San Juan, Alcala and Puerto de Santiago
along with the ancient fishing village
of Los Gigantes. For those eschewing the
hustle and bustle of a holiday with the
kiss-me-quick hat approach, then these
are the ideal places. Still within
striking distance of Las Americas and
Los Cristianos, people renting
apartments and holiday homes will find
golf, beaches and all the sights they
can wish for.
Tenerife's history is chequered
with repeated conquests, invasions and
occupations by the Spanish,
Dutch and Germans to name a
few. Even Lord Nelson when fighting the
Spanish battled here and it's
said to be here that he lost his arm
near Santa Cruz.
Prices for apartments in all parts of
the island range from as low as €250 per
week to €1,500 per week for a holiday
let depending on the number of rooms
there are and the amenities that are
available.
